The Power of Paint

Being stuck inside certainly brings to light much needed or potential home improvement projects.

One of the easiest ways to give your space a facelift is with a fresh coat of paint. Whether you're painting the whole room or simply an accent wall, paint is an immediate refresh. I have always been one to paint a room on the weekend, or change a wall color to something bolder or subtler, as the mood strikes.

Painting is invigorating for a number of reasons. One, paint and the needed supplies to do the job are readily available and relatively cheap. Two, the act of prepping for paint always involves moving furniture and decor out of the room. The emptying of the area creates the chain reaction of a necessary cleaning. Ceiling to floor, all walls and corners get a good going over. This immediately improves the feeling and freshness of the room. Three, the new color will change the mood of the room. Whether you choose a cozy gray or an invigorating yellow, the color is relevant to your personality and current stylistic preferences. Four, you have the option to change the way the room is decorated. I love to redecorate, change the furniture footprint and create new vignettes with my favorite things. This invites a new perspective and your preferred color will change the way your decor looks in the space. Five, the satisfying change can take place, start to finish, in a number of days or just hours, depending upon the size of your project.

The freshly painted space can motivate, invigorate, encourage and support us through challenges and remind us that we do have control over our interior environments.
